PARTY TIME

EVERYONE LOVES A PARTY FAVOR: TROPICAL THEME ?

As you will find if you read enough of my posts, I especially enjoy party planning! All aspects of a party excite me…invitations, decorations, party food, party favors!! So much room for creativity! Thankfully, I belong to a giant family with boat loads of cousins so my aunts are forever throwing a bridal shower party for the next niece to get married. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not biased to bridal showers! I enjoy throwing all types of parties…baby showers, bachelorette parties, birthday parties, baptism parties, you name it! Even if its not my party to throw, I always find myself helping out so I definitely have some [bomb] party planning experience. My goal for this blog is to highlight fun and unique party favor ideas which I’ve named the “EVERYONE LOVES A PARTY FAVOR” series. You should know every favor I create is incredibly inexpensive…we are talking $2 max for each. No one is trying to go broke over a party!

Without further ado, let’s get tropical! Since summer is upon us and a tropical party theme is most appropriate, this party favor is the perfect place to start! My mom and I made these for a tropical bridal shower, but they can certainly be put to use for a birthday party, baby shower, retirement party, etc! Now that I think about it, I REALLY like this idea for a retirement party…it gives off that “enjoy relaxing on a beach” vibe! Here’s how to craft these little treats in no time and for very little money.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

– toilet paper or paper towel roll

– brown crepe paper

– green foam sheets

– fake or real seashells

– hot glue gun

– scissors

– candies [I like to use tropical flavored candies i.e. coconut, sea salt]

STEPS

1 – If you are using paper towel rolls, cut them to the size of a toilet paper roll which is 4.25 inches tall

2 – Wrap the crepe paper around the entire toilet paper roll, leaving about .25 inch between each layer. You are trying to accomplish the look of bark here. Hot glue the starting point of the crepe paper and the ending point to the roll

This is what it should look like at the halfway point. Be sure to wrap the crepe paper all the way up the roll

3 – Once the paper roll is completely wrapped, cut out the “branches” for the tree and the base of the tree out of the green foam sheets. This doesn’t need to be precise as you can give your palm tree any look you would like. In my example, the branch piece is 4 inches in width and 3.5 inches in height. Give it that flowy, beachy look! The base on my example is 3.75 inches wide and 4 inches deep.

4 – Hot glue the branch foam piece to the top of the roll on the crepe paper and the base to the bottom of the roll. It should start to look like a palm tree now!

5 – Hot glue the seashells to the base

6 – Fill the hole of the paper roll with candies! I recommend a coconut flavored candy like mini Almond Joys or Mounds or sea salt chocolates! We are really going all in on this theme!!

And that’s it!! I promised it would be way easy and you can’t get much cheaper! I hope you agree, these party favors are the perfect touch to any tropical occasion!
