GIVE THANKS & GIVE BACK
Good gravy, November is here! I’ll admit, I’ve already started prepping for Christmas (& listen to the occasional Christmas music station), but Thanksgiving deserves the limelight for at least a few days!
To celebrate the holiday in more ways than a meal on Thanksgiving day, families / schools / businesses / small groups can giveback to their community! Last year, my co-workers and I volunteered at the local soup kitchen and hosted an office wide food drive! To make the food drive competitive, we grouped the participants into teams and gave each one a fun, Thanksgiving name including Team Turkey, Team Mashed Potatoes, & Team Pumpkin Pie! I made festive tags for each team to keep track of their pile as donations started rolling into the office! ?
The team with the most donated items was named the winner. Our food drive was a huge success with over 700 non-perishable food items, paper products, and hygiene products donated! You can award a prize to the winning team or simply keep the prize as the gift of happiness in helping others! In the end, everyone is a winner from this giving experience!
