GIFT IDEAS

OH, BABY! GIFTS

I can officially call myself Aunt Kel x 5! I gained a new niece this past week which now makes the tally 3 precious nephews and 2 darling nieces. I try to spoil those kiddos any chance I get and boy, is it nice to send them right back to their parents when they are having a meltdown. Anyways, between my siblings and close friends having babes, I have become quite good at crafting a care package for momma and baby once the little bundle of joy has arrived. Here are my top picks for items to include in a new baby care package!

 1) Food/Drink for the Family – My signature new baby gift are these mini angel food cakes decorated with baby booties.

Try your hand at making them on your own or check if your favorite bakery will make them for you. I go with the bakery option! 🙂 I also like to fill care packages with the family’s favorite snacks..cookies, candy, granola bars. Having a child is a whirlwind (or so I’ve been told) so gifting food is always a safe bet. While you’re at it, throw in a bottle of wine or momma’s favorite beverage. That first sip is a moment 9 months in the making!

 2) Baby Outfits/Accessories – This is an obvious gift, but who doesn’t love scouring through the racks at TJ Maxx for the cutest baby outfit? If outfit shopping isn’t your thing, consider gifting baby booties, shoes, or a bow for baby girls! I recommend these bows from this adorable Etsy shop! Little Sugar Bows

3) Diapers/Wipes – This is one of the more practical gifts you can give, and I think any newborn’s parents might bow down to you for it. You will definitely earn extra baby snuggles for this one!

4) Books – Every mom I know can’t have enough books for their baby which makes for a great gift. I recommend Love You Forever by Robert Munsch – such a classic and so sweet! If this newborn has a sibling, I recommend whichever of these titles is applicable, Brothers Forever or Sisters Forever, both by P.K. Hallinan. These books put me on the verge of tears!

5) Care Products for Mom – I can’t say DRY SHAMPOO loud enough! We all know new moms have less time to themselves than ever before so arm them with something that will make their lives easier. Shampoo in a can! You can also gift lotion, perfume, or anything to remind momma to take good care of herself!

Once I have all of the items gathered, I like to get a cute basket to load it all in (what fits anyways) and drop it off for the new baby and family to enjoy!
