POPPIN’ POPSICLE PARTY
Without fail, every year, August rolls around, and I am suddenly ready for Fall Sweet Fall. Kids are going back to school, and I’m dreaming about PSLs (pumpkin spiced lattes) and re-decorating my house with fake pumpkins and leaves. I live for Autumn, but I have one more Summer post in me because it’s that cute and fun…and well, it’s still 90 degrees outside. What better way to cool off than at a kid’s popsicle birthday party?! This is your 1 stop shop for all things popsicle party and how to spoil that kiddo in your life with a unique and memorable day without breaking the bank (or should I say Popsicle Stand?)!
Gotta start with the party invite! Make your own or buy online pretty inexpensively through an instant download. Here are a couple of my favs to get your party poppin’:
Invitations ✅
It just so happens that I recently helped throw a popsicle themed 1st birthday party for my niece. After all, I let my real life fuel my blog posts…can you tell I like to party? We found several ways to make popsicles out of regular household items and turned them into party decorations!
We made popsicles using pool noodles! So fun and so cheap! Inspiration came from this post. We also made popsicles using paint samples from a home improvement store. See instructions here. You can’t get any cheaper than free! Create as many or as few popsicle decorations for the party (garland, table decor, etc) and be prepared for guests to ooh and ahh! Decorations ✅
Onto my favorite part of a party…dessert! Of course, we had to make a “smash” cake for the birthday girl, and it wouldn’t be a popsicle party without a popsicle cake! We baked a 8×8 cake, cut it into the shape of a popsicle, and decorated with frosting and sprinkles! You definitely don’t have to be a 1 year old to appreciate this sweet treat!
Since my niece was elbows deep in the smash cake, we served cupcakes to the party guests with, none other than, popsicle decorations! We frosted regular cupcakes and decorated them with Mike & Ike candies and a toothpick to resemble popsicles! These cupcakes are what dessert dreams are made of. We picked up popsicle napkins from Target, and we were ready to serve the sweets! Dessert ✅
Lastly, the Belle of the Popsicle Party Ball….a Popsicle Stand! We fashioned this little stand out of a portable clothes rack and a tall cooler filled with ice. All it took was bulletin board paper and a fun banner to cutesy it up and turn it into my niece’s very own popsicle stand! We wrote the popsicle flavors on a large chalkboard so guests could pick out their favorite(s) to enjoy. Pro tip: wait until the last minute to load the stand with the “goods” to keep the popsicles from getting too mushy. Party WOW factor ✅
Checked all the boxes, and we’re ready to party! A popsicle birthday party like this one is the best way to survive the Dog Days of Summer and celebrate your loved one’s extra “cool” day!
