OH SO CRAFTY

SUMMER DOOR DECOR

Every time I look at this door hanger, I get a country song stuck in my head. Anyone else? This little craft project is a fun way to dress up your front door any time of the year. Although, I think it’s perfect for those colorful summer months. Since this blog is merely a place for me to talk about my recent craft projects (&much more!!), you can’t buy this here. BUT I can inspire you to make your own! Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. Here is what you need to make a “Hey Y’all” door hanger!

-Circle wood sign with white background. Find at Hobby Lobby here

-Fake flowers and leaves (I chose bright, bold colors but you can play around with different colors/types of flowers)

-Acrylic paint (I think Apple Barrel acrylic paint is the best. I used Yellow Flame for the rim and Mountain Blue for the lettering.)

-Hot glue gun

-Acrylic sealer

Hooks

-Heavy duty white twine

It’s really an easy project! I painted the rim around the circle yellow. Then, I used my Cricut to cut out a stencil for the lettering in a fun font. If you don’t have a Cricut, you can make a stencil out of plain printer paper or buy one from a craft store. You can also free hand the lettering if you feel up to it! I painted the letters using the stencil, attached my fake flowers and leaves to the rim with hot glue, and added hooks and a loop on the back so it can be hung on a door! I also sprayed it with an acrylic sealer to protect it from the sun and rain. She’s a beauty, ain’t she?

Speaking of summer door hangers, I made this “Hello Summer” sign last year and I still have googly eyes over it!

I opted with an 18 inch circle board for this one, burlap string, and a burlap bow. Other than staining the board first, the process was very similar to my “Hey Y’all” sign although I did free hand paint this one. All I can say is PATIENCE! I take original content very seriously so I should mention I didn’t come up with this design. I found it on Pinterest last year and decided I could make it myself…so to work I went! I am living proof that any amateur crafter can make beautiful things with some inspiration and a little bit of patience! My front door is sure to be the most festive one on the block this summer!
