THE SWEETEST COMEBACK: CUPCAKE EDITION
Here we are…mid July already! The 4th of July is behind us, but Summer Shandys are still on my lips and those festive S’mores are still on my hips! Good thing I have the rest of the summer to work those babies off. Speaking of things to look forward to, it sounds like professional sports will be returning to our lives very soon!! Men (and some women) everywhere, rejoice!!
One of my favorite summer activities is going to a major league baseball game (Go Cards!). Rowdy fans, the smell of concession stand nachos, sitting in the sweltering heat, what’s not to love? This summer has been far from ordinary, and the MLB hasn’t played one single game. Since opening day is set for July 23rd, let’s celebrate with cake!
Recently, I made a baseball stadium pull apart cake! An infield, outfield and even fans in the stands! Let me tell ya, it was as easy as can be! I used all boxed/pre-made ingredients so if you can read box directions, you can do it! I made 1 box of cupcakes (any brand/flavor but I made chocolate) which made 23 cupcakes. I set them up in the shape below.
I bought pre-made chocolate icing and spread it on the bottom 4 cupcakes. Make sure you push the cupcakes together as close as possible so icing stays on top and doesn’t fall in between. I also purchased white icing, spread it over the top row of cupcakes, and added colorful sprinkles to represent fans! Lastly, I dyed some of the white icing green and used a ‘star’ icing tip and piping bag to pipe on green grass over the remaining cupcakes!
While I was in the icing aisle, I picked up a white icing tube to pipe on the bases. This one is a homerun! Make for a baseball themed party or to celebrate your favorite team’s return to the diamond!
Bonus! You can make cookie stadiums too! I made this cookie set for a football fan who was turning 25!
Decorate cut out sugar cookies with your favorite royal icing (here’s mine) and sprinkles to impress sports fans of all kinds!
